Once again, the main story of the game was the abysmal officiating, as the referees somehow conspired to disallow Newcastle’s opening goal. We question whether Eddie Howe could or should do more to highlight the recent injustices which have robbed Newcastle of points.
Away from the controversy it was a game of many chances. We look at what Newcastle need to do to turn draws into victories, how they can absorb the loss of key players and how they can sharpen the attack. Special mention also goes to Elliott Anderson, who appears to be edging closer towards starting games.
