Champions League In Sight: NUFC 4-1 Brighton REVIEW

Craig, Keegs and a slightly worse for wear Lee take a good, long, enjoyable look at the massive three points gained against Brighton at St James’ Park.

St James’ Park. Under the flood lights. Massive game ahead. How will the team set up and perform off the back of a somewhat disappointing draw away at Leeds a few days earlier?

Will Eddie make changes? Will the intent change? How about the home crowd – will they help?

Well, as it turned out, Newcastle took full control of the contest in the first half and went in to the interval two goals to the good on the back of an absolutely terrific pressing display reminiscent of the performances before the World Cup earlier in the season.

As if that was good, better was to come, despite exceptional pressure from Brighton as two late killer blows knocked out the opposition with minutes to spare in the second half. St James’ Park was in raptures, Eddie Howe grinned from ear to ear, and the mighty Black and Whites took a massive step forward towards Champions League qualification.

We rather enjoyed that! HOWAY!

(Oh yeah, we also preview Leicester. Big game that).
